How To Make Delicious Sugar Free Gummies
Through the lens of Instagram, it looks like I am living a cute little rose-colored life in New York making gummies and wearing bikinis. Truth is - that is not my life on the daily - but that is the subject of another blog post... (stay tuned: there's much to be said about the smoke and mirrors of Instagram)
Back to gummies. They're ALL over my IG because I LOVE making them and have recently had a few requests to post my basic recipe. In all honesty, I'm not great in the kitchen. I'm really not. I also do not enjoy complicated recipes. Because who has time for that?! But the reason I go to town with these little (jelly) babies are because they are so damn easy to make.
I embraced the gummy life as a result of trying out a Sarah Wilson recipe and now I am truly obsessed. Although they are delicious and can feel like i'm indulging in a naughty treat, the more research I do about gelatin the more I'm convinced I could be on to a great thing. Gelatin contributes to:
- Improved gut health
- Improved digestion
- Stronger immune system
- Stronger joints
- Stronger bones
- Lean muscle mass
- Better skin
- Better sleep
- Lowering inflammation
- Faster metabolism
So you're convinced? Great! Read on.
(My only hard and fast rule with gelatin is you seek out QUALITY grass-fed gelatin to reap all the above benefits. I use this one, this one and this one is great too.)
1. Bloom your gelatin by mixing 3&1/2 tablespoons with 1/3 cup of water. Set aside.
2. Make your mix - can be any flavor (green smoothie, coconut milk and strawberry, cold brew, peanut butter and cacao... ANYTHING) between 1 and 1&1/2 cups. Heat on the stovetop. Once hot, mix in your gelatin mixture with a whisk.
3. Once all mixed through, pop in freezer for about 30-45 mins, then place in fridge.
4. Eat and reap the benefits 😋
P.S. If you want to make multi-layered gummies, make sure you set your first layer completely first, then repeat the process and stack up. Easy peasy!
